Les Paul, who changed the face of modern music through his development of the guitar, has died aged 94.
Wisconsen-born Paul, real name Lester William Polsfuss, was a musician before he turned his hand to inventing. He recorded as Rhubarb Red as well as playing in bands including the Les Paul Trio.
Through Gibson he released the Les Paul Goldtop guitar followed by the Les Paul Custom and the Les Paul Standard – the current edition of which is hugely popular today.
Paul was also influential in the rise of multi-track recording – allowing musicians to record different musical parts and vocals separately then fuse them together as a complete recording.
Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson, paid tribute to Paul in a statement.
“The world has lost a truly innovative and exceptional human being today,” he said. “I cannot imagine life without Les Paul.”
“He would walk into a room and put a smile on anyone’s face. His musical charm was extraordinary and his techniques unmatched anywhere in the world.”

I just recieved this email, sad to hear that after 10 years in the game, Schwipe has come to an end. Ironic that their last line was called ‘booze, debt, die’?.. I think not. These kids have always seen the lighter side of a situation, as the below email demonstrates. As long as your having fun right?

So normally when your Mum informs you that there is a family portrait going down, you get that spew taste in your mouth and run for the hills. I wish my parents shot portraits like this when I was young.. Shot by Akihiro Furuta. Enjoy.

Black Cab Sessions is an epic idea. It’s a series of one-song performances by musicians and poets recorded in the back of a black cab. The sessions are recorded while the black cab that serves as the studio travels through city streets, usually in London. Here are a couple of my favourite bands in the back of the cab, brilliant.

Every now and then you stumble across something quite special. As is the case with a thrift store that my buddy Ryan recently introduced me to. It’s an untouched utopia dubbed ‘Arcadia’, you have to travel by sea to get there, and when you do get there, you are made to swear never to tell the whereabouts of this place. If one breaks this oath, they are doomed and shall never talk again. Hence I cannot tell you where this is.
In one visit we found, a piano, rocking chair, lounge suite, speakers, Clarks desert boots, ornaments, records, and books to boot. Below are a few items I snagged.

Marky actually found these for $5. I was all like “there waaay too big for you broo” and he was like “your just jelous because I found them”. Then he wore them out and realised they were like 3 sizes to big… so I swapped him two packs of smokes for them. Score

Don’t get me wrong, The Veils are epic.. but i’m thinking a Finn Andrews Solo album would be super epic.
