Mr.Mod

picture-1

Now I know there are a number of stores throughout the country in each of our opinions that stand out above and beyond the rest. Yet one that takes the cake for me would be Mr.Mod in Christchurch which is by far one of most amazing furniture stores you’ll ever see packed with a mixture of antique, contemporary and modern furniture all sourced by Mr. Mod himself. So if you happen to find yourself in Christchurch go and have a look for yourself  or simply check out the website www.mrmod.co.nz

So spent last Sunday scrolling through Blue Note covers online, as for when it comes to cover art no one does it better than Blue Note and particularly all the covers that Reid Miles did for them alongside Francis Wolff and above are merely two of many great covers from Blue Note. Do yourself a favour and go check out the rest..

So as most of you will know, Dennis Hopper passed away just recently. Yet what most of you may not know is that as well as an actor he was also an amazing phot0grapher and had been for most of his life and prior to being an actor. Above is just one of his many exceptional shots, and just google Dennis Hopper photos / photography to see more..

Robert Rauschenberg

During my time at art school one artist I discovered through the school as well as through good friend Kelvin Soh and who quickly became of my favourites is Robert Rauschenberg -

Robert Rauschenberg (born Milton Ernst Rauschenberg; (October 22, 1925 – May 12, 2008) was an American artist who came to prominence in the 1950s transition from Abstract Expressionism to Pop Art. Rauschenberg is well-known for his “Combines” of the 1950s, in which non-traditional materials and objects were employed in innovative combinations. Rauschenberg was both a painter and a sculptor and the Combines are a combination of both, but he also worked with photography, printmaking, papermaking, and performance.[1][2] He was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1993.[3]

This Time Tomorrow

this-time-tomorrow

Another film beyond the “Thisculture’ film series that I’m working on is This Time Tomorrow, a skate film themed around the transition from day to night skating, “This Time Tomorrow” features the talent of Devon Connell, Jimmy McDonald, Curtis Rapp, Dave Caddo, Brendan Granstrand and Will Harmon. Filming has taken place over the course of 3 years, with almost 9 months spent abroad in such locales as London, Paris, Lyon, Rome, Berlin, Athens, Venice, Trieste and Montreal. Even so, the majority of the film was shot in Philadelphia, a city absent in many of today’s video projects and long forgotten by the industry. The United Kingdom’s Rory Milanes, Steph Morgan and Lucien Clarke make up nearly half the film and create a strong British presence. Each of their sections were shot in the streets of London, where short days and long nights make the camera light a must. Time was also spent in various other locations along the eastern seaboard including Boston, N.Y.C, Washington D.C. and Miami. To view the trailer go to http://www.thistimetomorrowvideo.com/TTT/TTT_Home.html and for more info on the premier screening go to http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=635810843#!/event.php?eid=133204803363779

OG Stussy

So have been on the Stussy tip, after checking out Shawn Stussy’s new venture S Double (www.s-double.com) and thought I’d have a dig for some of the old ads as Stussy always had the dopest ads back in the day which is not surprising as they pretty did everything first when it comes to streetwear. Anyhow here’s a small selection of what I found…
