Kim is not a guys name
There are pro and cons to everything. take KFC for example, it smells mean, tastes mean but make you feel like a dodgy mechanic - greasy and guilty. Another one is going commmando, feels mean, less washing but zips and dangerous. This clip s the same. Nike dose cools stuff but also have too much money and kill the little man. It’s love hate. I found this on the monster children website and thought it was pretty cool but the main cool thing is Charlie Dark feats in it. Charlie Dark is a slam poet from the UK. I saw Charlie dark at the Montecristo room a month or so ago and he was super cool. The following week I was at Tauhara College in Taupo and got word he was there the day before running Poetry workshops with the students. Anyone who gives back to the people is ok with me. Sooo i guess Nike is OK too, pros and cons.
here is the nike thingy and Charlie Dark thingy

The best beginnings
This Story involves a pro skateboarder and bass player from a band called Converge.
Converge visited our lovely shores a few months back thanks to Shogun promotions. Converge is one of those bands that if you are a fan you won’t miss the show regardless of how long you travel or how much it costs and if you don’t own a t shirt you’ll probably buy one, but you’ll already have one! Converge’s bass player Nate is also a skater who grew up skating in Cali. He stoked me out with a story about growing up skating in the west coast. Sergie Ventura is a legendary pro skater from back in the days who according to Nate was the man who first made him take the drop on a vert ramp. If you skate or if you skated you will remember the first time you dropped in a ramp, who you were with, which ramp, everything. Mine was at the Vic park mini ramp with Dean, Andy and Jonny it was dark and I made it. You will also remember the first vert ramp drop in, mine Mt Maunganui with Dean again. Nate’s story is way better than my few words, Nate was pumping around the bottom of a vert and Sergie Ventura took his board away from him and took it up to the top of ramp. Sergie refused to give it back he said “if you want it come and get it” Nate is no sissy boy. He climbed up top and was then convinced to drop in by the strong force called peer pressure in the personified form of this pro skater. I recapped his story to him “so the first time you dropped in a vert ramp was because the legend Sergie Ventura took your board and held you ransom till you dropped in” - Yea dude, “and so you nailed it? - “no dude i ate shit so bad”. What a good end, he didn’t even land it he ate it! Monster Josh/Cheapskates Josh/ team PMA walked through the doors right after he finished. Nate did the repeat story and Josh was stoked.
crappy pics from the show.

YOU’RE THE BEST!!
This blog is inspired by 3 things
1 BobbyHundreds blog a few days ago
2 Karate Kid itself
3 Joel Little ,Goodnight nurse
Hundreds bagged out the new Karate Kid flick and I’m kinda with BobbyHundreds, except I will watch it on DVD and I like Jackie Chan. But It did remind me how much I loved the old Karate Kid movie, and more importantly the Song “you’re the best around”. This song gets stuck in my head for days every time I hear it. Earlier this year at Homegrown festival while I was busy changing some guitar strings Joel from Goodnight Nurse had this song stuck in his head and It went straight into my head and then lived on with great memories of Homegrown, Being a kid, practicing the ‘Crane Kick’ in my backyard, turning down 12 year olds asking for my autograph, getting sweet catering and also trying to catch flies with Chopsticks - never even once.
Here is the song that in a small way helps the original Karate Kid alive through the decades.
